For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

Some Things to Think About

What were you thinking about just before you read this? Most likely you were concerned with daily things like your work, family, or personal matters. Or maybe you were thinking about politics, sports, or something else. But when was the last time you stopped to think about your eternal future? Let me take a minute to share a few of God's thoughts with you. After all, God has said, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:9).

"What think ye of Christ?" (Matthew 22:42). This question above any other determines your eternal future. God has said, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36 ). What do you think of Jesus? Why did He come to the earth?

"How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?" (Matthew 18:12). These are Jesus' own words describing His mission on this earth. He didn't come to be a great teacher or leader or merely to set an example--He came to seek us who "like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6). "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost" (Matthew 18:11 ). When Jesus died on the cross, He bore the punishment for your sins. Now He calls on you to believe in Him. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:17 ).

"What think ye?" This question was asked about Jesus during His trial. The answer came quickly--"He is guilty of death" (Matthew 26:66). Do you join with those whose self-righteousness drove them to crucify Jesus or do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life" (1 John 5:13 ).

"In such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matthew 24:44). After Jesus rose victoriously from the dead and ascended back into heaven, angels told His disciples that "this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven" (Acts 1:11). Jesus is coming back to take all who believe in Him to be with Him in heaven. After that, He will return, "in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God" (2 Thessalonians 1:8).

So now I ask you again, what do you think about Jesus? You must think about your eternal future before it is too late. Turn to Christ now, repent of your sins, and trust Him and His finished work for your eternal salvation. "He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24 ).

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (Philippians 4:8).
